Air-sensitive samples can be prepared inside the glove box and transferred to the melt-spinning system without exposure to the air via a transfer tank. With a direct couple with the glove box, the sample collection process can also be completed inside a glove box. During melt-spinning, metal ingots are melted via induction heating and propelled by pressurized inert gas. A thin stream of the melt is cast onto a spinning copper drum. The rapid quenching and solidification process enables the alloy forms amorphous ribbons in a few seconds.
